Thankful for you

I am thankful to have you in my life.

Never feel so emotionally, psychologically and physically attached before and you made me feel so loved.

I love it when we will cuddle all night long, with long passionate kisses.

I am not afraid to show my public affection to you and love seeing your awkward expression when I tried to hug you while waiting for the traffic light.

I love it when we have so much in common and have so many things to talk all day long. Still remember you offered to fetch me back after my clubbing, still remember I kept talking and talking in the car about myself etc and we were talking about animal planet and discovery channel.

You will remember every details I said and I really really appreciate it.

Looking forward to many more getaway trips with you and friends.

And also, thanks for loving my parents and my friends.

Desaru Trip: 31st May - 1st June 2014

First short getaway trip with the boy and his friends to Desaru, Malaysia!

We drove to JB to buy some mixers and snacks then continue the journey.

8-10 of us, shared 3 apartment rooms.

This is the one we had, which is the penthouse at the highest level! Such a big room with staircase, and bath tub and a big bed.

We chilled awhile... then all of us drove out around 8pm to Jade Garden Seafood for dinner.

On the way there, the road is poorly lit and it kind of scared me because the incoming cars were driving quite fast, yet the road is so narrow.

We reached there safe and sound.

Rebonding Review: Lynna @ Marsiling vs Auntie Xiuzhen @ Jurong West

Since Chinese New Year is coming, I decided to do something to my fizzy and 'hard' hair..
Before that i accompanied my mom for facial so I 'shuan bian' trim my eyebrow.

Photo taken before I left the house..
As u can see, the center part of my hair is wavy and out of shape.. even my eyebrow is ugly.

So while my mom is doing facial, i told the lady to help me trim eyebrow and i specifically requested not to have high arch and she said ok.

In the end, the eyebrow is still a little high :( For $5 i can't complain.
I think i trust Esther from FEP better.. although pricier $12 or $15 i think.

After that, we rushed to meet Auntie Xiuzhen for rebonding. This is my first time doing with her.. Excited about her skills and also heard that she is quite straight forward and fierce looking but actually very nice.

My appointment was 2pm but when I reached Boon Lay Mrt it was already 1.50pm. So i rushed to take cab down because I know there's still quite a distance to her house.

Seriously, her house quite hard to find especially if you don't live at Jurong area.. Even the taxi driver found it hard to locate the block, we had to go into the car park and searched slowly..

And finally, i reached her place. Below her house there are ongoing construction for lift upgrading.. Apparently the hdb is the old kind..

Reached her place, I think it was her husband who opened the door for us, friendly uncle.

First impression of Auntie Xiuzhen is friendly not fierce. She was smiling at us, and I thought to myself maybe she will be kind to me and i sort of relieved.

When it was my turn to apply the cream, she started commenting my hair saying it was hard... very wavy.. and she said looking at my hair she know i am a very stubborn person. (?? LOL.) I told her it was genes, but she straight away objected and said our hair is affected due to what we think.

That means if we stress, the quality of hair will be hard etc. I do agree in certain way, but i also commented that it may also due to lack of care and previously i had badly damaged layered hair since young. She said I should not blame the hairdresser's skills, it was all about our brain, what we thinks affect it. Ok fine, then i sort of smiled and acknowledged.

She is a very chatty person and you will not be bored with her. To be honest, I am kind of trying hard to talk to her because I do not want to appear hostile even though I don't feel like talking much.. As I have already read from many forum reviews that she will probed into customers' personal life and details, I am prepared for it.. But i did not expect her to know all details and yet spread all out to other customers.

Some forumers said it was uncomfortable to wash their hair in the small toilet, and they washed it themselves? But auntie xiuzhen washed for us today and it was an okay experience, just sit there and she will wash it for you.

I am also okay with blow drying my hair and she asked me to dry it thoroughly so I believed I did so. When it was my turn to start doing the rebonding, I think she touched my hair and it was still a bit wet and when she started blow drying my hair, I felt that she actually forced her fingers down my tangled wet hair which caused me great pain. I expected her to be meticulous in this area though because I am quite concern about my hair dropping.

While rebonding halfway, she asked me to go back sit awhile while she go wash another girl's hair and dry it for her, and then proceed to apply cream to the next customer who came after me. All this while my mum had waited till almost 4 hours and she fell asleep because she is not really a chatty person.

That was the time I felt abit irritated already because I kept waiting and waiting but I told myself no choice, she is doing it alone.. so I just endured the waiting time.

Finally i was asked to be seated and resume the rebonding. It was very very flat.. HAHA, but I have to say her skill is not bad because the result was smooth and silky hair.

I realised she applied the first cream near the roots but not the ends. Afterwards, she would wash my hair, dry it and rebond all the way to the ends. Then she set the straightened hair with second cream. After 15-20 mins washed hair again and viola! smooth and straight hair.

I am glad she didn't apply the first cream till the ends because that means I will get poky straight ends. But because she did not, and only 'kiap' the ends for temporary straightened effect, I believe after a few wash my hair will look naturally straight.

For now, I am quite concern about my flat hair at the top crown area.. argh, must 'ren' - endure.

So, whats my take between Lynna from Marsiling vs Auntie Xiuzhen from Jurong West?

Here's a summary:

Auntie Xiuzhen @ Jurong West
Lynna @ Marsiling
Price
$65
$70-$80
Product
Shiseido
Shiseido
Skills
Smooth and silky hair, but quite flat
Smooth and silky hair, but flatter because she applied the cream on my ends as well but it lasted 1 year for me. Not bad.
Location
Quite hard to find the block if you are not familiar with Jurong area. It is located inside and quite a distance away from bus stop
Easier to locate although still need to take a bus from Marsiling MRT. But bus stop just opposite her block if I remember correctly.
Service
Friendly, love to chit chat and talk about other customers’ personal details. Straight forward and truthful, down to earth.
To be honest, I think only a certain type of people will like her, that is, able to take her criticisms and her probing into your personal life. Other than that, she is fantastic.
During the waiting time, there is no entertainment, only stacks of magazines and lao fu zi comics.
Friendly, does not talk a lot but still try her best to understand customers.
During the waiting time, she will on her laptop to put online shows for you to watch. Good for people who are easily bored and have nothing to talk, just want to sit there, do and go kind.

Here's a picture of my trimmed eyebrow (i got draw so the tail look longer btw) and my rebonded hair.

Thank you for reading.
Good day.

Wisdom Tooth Surgery Part II - Khoo Teck Phuat Hospital

I had my wisdom teeth extracted on last Friday, 12/04/2013.
Finally it's out and initially i was very very nervous. Knowing that I am safe with Dr Tay, I tried not to think so much!

Headed to Khoo Teck Phuat Hospital all by myself, and did everything alone! I felt like I have grown up alot.. *swipe tears away*

Anyway, registered over the counter, had my blood pressure checked and was issued a number.

was asked to tie my hair and keep my manes under the surgical cap, waited for awhile before Dr Tay showed up, told me about the risk I would be facing and which are the impacted tooth and so on..

The process seemed to be taking very long.. but after i had extracted, i felt like "ok, that was easy". Tsk I couldn't explain that feeling!

I was feeling very nervous when I lied down, the nurses still put a green cloth over my face which only exposed my mouth. lol. It was hilarious, I'm serious.

First tooth that was out was my upper left wisdom tooth which was extracted. Followed by the lower left wisdom tooth which was lying side way under my gum (impacted tooth). Dr Tay cut up the tooth into pieces, I felt like it was never ending process! Keep cutting, and cutting and cutting.. Before I knew it, I was done!

Followed by the sewing up my wounds..

Had to wait at a room for 20 mins with the gauze:

this picture was taken 5 mins after the surgery.

The nurse then gave me 6 days MC (like i got use like that haha), a list of what to do after operation, prescription and my teeth.

once my blood sort of soaked up the gauze, the nurse taught me how to change and I was good to go!

went to level 1 pharmacy to collect my medicine..

my trusty fancl supplement box!

----------

after that, met bf at Yishun MRT and we headed to town to eat.

I drank a packet of HL milk before I went for the operation, hence felt very hungry.. bf still scared I couldn't eat.. lol I ate a bowl of udon and shared waffle ice cream with him.

Had my medicine and we went to catch a movie.

-----------

next day, unfortunately it was a Saturday :(
had to go back school for UK revision. *SIAN MAX*

had my lunch in school...

this picture was taken 1 day after my operation.

well, i was told by the nurse that because I am fair, I may or may not experience bruising around my jaw and neck. Luckily i did not experience anything and still managed to eat! I always believe that nothing stops me from eating. LOL.. Because when I had braces, I had to tighten my braces every month, some said they couldn't eat? But i ate as per normal.

Currently I am still experiencing a little bit swelling around my jaw, probably tomorrow or so will be okay. :)

Highly recommended Dr Tay, but she's not there everyday and I changed my surgeon to her as I felt safer with her since everyone in the forum went to her. Didn't regret it! But the downside is: have to wait for months because first, you need to get a referral letter from polyclinic, go KTPH to take x ray and make an appt with the surgeon and pay the consultation & xray fee.

2 months later then I managed to had my wisdom teeth taken out, but it's cheaper this way!

So i think it is only suitable for people who just want to take out asap, but if it's already giving you pain, better go to a trusty clinic to get it out immediately. *MAI TU LIAO*

Overview of my SIM-UOL Journey

I am so so SO happy that I have officially completed my 3 years of pursuing my business degree in SIM-UOL.

Ok, some background of my education.

I enrolled into a course called Quality Management Engineering (QME) in the year 2007 when I was 17 years old.

I had always love my poly life during the 3 years there, i had amazing friends, amazing lecturers, and even when it comes to assignments and projects I took pride in everything I do and I tried to give it my best shot.

Upon second year, our course in-charge decided that we should changed our course name in order to meet the competition out there. Being a quality engineer is not enough, hence our course was changed to Business Process & Quality Engineering. Well, it is a mixture of both engineering and business modules.

I started to take interest in the Marketing module that I took, presenting every week is a chore, but being a group leader at that time and able to achieve desired result made me feel accomplished and successful.

Finally, 3 years of poly education had arrived. Attended graduation ceremony and the photographer who took picture of me upon receiving my certificate did not do a good job. LOL.It's okay, I had already forgiven him.

I graduated with GPA 3.55 and in a glimpse of hope, I tried applying for NUS and NTU courses, but preferably NUS FASS. At that time my heart was set on NUS and did not bother to apply for SMU,knowing that they do go through interviews and their curriculum is different.

It was a tough journey when waiting for my pending application, only to be disappointed when I received snail-mail from two local institutions that I had been rejected. I know la, I have no outstanding CCA, O level also not fantastic. But still, I did not give up hope and I tried appeal for NUS, because I thought 3.55 was just nice for the course I can go in.

Who knows? I guess Singapore has become so competitive that people like me stands no chance in local universities. Therefore, I decided to join University of London External Programme in year 2010.

I enrolled into BSC Business and started out year 1 because my poly certificate is an engineering course not a business, therefore I could not advance to second year EVEN THOUGH I had already done with Mathematics, Statistics, Economics and Marketing. :\

During my first year, I did not get to choose my lecturers and time slot like everybody does in other courses. I was scheduled mostly 8.30am to 11.30am at Management House near National JC if i remember correctly.

I did not make a lot of friends, only a few who in the end, became just hi-bye friends. But I have seen many ex-classmates that really sticked throughout their 3 years in UOL. Really happy for them, although I do not know them, I know they had found some long-term friends in school.

For me, I prefer to just go to class, listen and just leave. I do not stay in school for dinner, nor go town after class. It is always class then home. Life was boring to be honest, but I really had no time to invest my effort to manage so many friendships.

Year 1 result came, and I almost cannot make it to year 2. Fortunately I scraped through 2 modules and unfortunately, I failed 1 which is the ever famous Intro to Economics which questions set by the famous guy.

I proceed to year 2, retaking economics and 4 new units. I worked hard on Intro to Economics and I saw the effort paid off when I scored 3 times better than the first. I was very happy, in fact flying up to the sky soon. I did not expected to get a second upper for my Ebiz as well. However, a module that should be scored 70 was done poorly due to the fact that I had 2 papers on the same day. It really sucked but that's ok..

When I proceed to year 3, I know I need another 3 more 60s in order to secure a second upper. I did what I can, studied hard and revised regularly.

But I realised that even if I started revision early and do PYPs early, does not mean I could still remember when the exam dates are nearing. I learnt it the hard way during my 2nd year, so I decided to leave PYP to nearer dates and I just focused on revising each chapter covered everyday after class.

I do not know why am I so nervous and stress this year seriously. Probably because I am trying to aim 2nd upper honours when I could just leave it to fate and consider myself lucky that at least I pass will do. But my boyfriend disagreed and pushed me further to my goal. I am very glad that he did, and my friend who had graduated last year kept motivating me that I can do it.

Finally, when the last paper ended, it was SO RELIEVED. I have never felt so happy before. Thank god for everything. Whatever the results this coming 13th August, I shall be prepared and be glad that at least I had put in my very best effort even though I had many thoughts on giving up. I pulled it through and I shall celebrate this day.

This coming June, I will be going for a week holiday with my boyfriend to the city of shopping - Bangkok! Initially we had planned to explore Taiwan but due to the latest bird flu cases in China, I was afraid that it would affect Taiwan hence we changed the destination to Bangkok. It's time to revisit this baby anymore, it's been 2 years since I return back. Although this would be a budget trip, I foresee a relax trip before I start working as a working adult.

I am now trying to look for job, but do not know what I want to work as...Shall see what opportunities lie ahead me then.

I am also start to look into investing knowledge through books to self-enhance myself for a better retirement in the future. Planning is necessary and I would use this time to gain knowledge while start saving.

I do not know what my future will bring me to, but I do hope whatever job that I landed into, it would be a fun, loving family kind of workplace.

That's all for now. Shall update more soon..

xoxo.

Service Review: Eyebrow Embroidery @ #1 Bishan Salon by Amy

Have you ever wonder how celebrities look like without their eyebrows?

!!!!

Eyebrows are like a second window to our eyes.
Strange enough, gorgeous celebrities still look like shit or alien without their nicely defined brows.
WHY IS THIS SO?

Well, I am born with not much hair on me (ahem) my eyebrows has no obvious 'tail' at the end of the arch.

my bare eyebrow on my right and left was the one being drawn already.

I have always like thick and full brows like those Koreans stars. haha..
so I bought an Etude house brow pencil in gray (in love with it. CHEAP) since I am not going to dye my hair anymore, I know I will stick to grayish black colour for my brows.

I like what the pencil can deliver, but it's just a tad troublesome to draw my brows every time I decided to put on some make up. I am not an artist, hence my drawing kinda sucks... I believe that in order to achieve defined good brows, you need to have some artistic skills in you la, especially someone like me who has no 'tails' naturally.

Sometimes it can be quite frustrating just to draw out that tail, yet no hair to allow me to trace and just shade inside.

SO right, my bf's mum actually had her eyebrow embroidery done and I didn't even notice it until she mentioned. She told me it was affordable, lasting and natural. I am so into it at that moment and she helped me to book a slot with them which is the same day as her touch up appointment.

but MIND YOU, the salon that she went, that is, the one I was intending to go, had to book 3-4 months in advance! It's seriously damn long wait, but since I am not in a rush, I just went ahead to book an appointment on 17th July.

I went to forum after that to look for many reviews. Apparently Amy from #1 Salon is famous and infamous. Famous being she has been doing for many celebrities and she is very popular, the youngsters and the middle-aged aunties. The infamous part is that the long waiting hours when you suppose to do on your appointment time. BUT HELL NO. Okay, let me explain. My appointment was 3.15pm and I waited for 1.5 hours close to 2 hours for Amy to do mine. But I have also overhead some ladies had book Amy yet couldn't wait that long and decided to let other people do their brows. I was like 'oh come on.. you have been waiting for 4 months for Amy to do and now you cannot wait and just let her staff to do yours?' I die also will wait until Amy is okay, because I am not safe in other people's hand.Oh, another con is that although the waiting is long, the process only took around 15 mins to finish! I really wonder how their booking system works. -.- so sucks.

By the way, Amy is generally nice but tend to be very talkative and gossipy.I feel that I do not have any say in what type of brows I prefer. EVEN THOUGH she said "you young girls like Korean brows, arch not high one" So i thought "okay, I will be in good hands" and happily lied on the bed for her to start.

She took out a pencil and a wooden stick to mark the arch and the end of the tail. She just said "ok, i will do chocolate dark brown on you" I was like "what? but my hair is black, you sure it will come out natural on me?" She replied something like "yeah don't worry".

She started applying some numbing cream on me while I was lying down, after 5 mins she started using the tool to do already. This is the weird part, I see some girls review for other places like browhause, Sophia brow house etc had their numbing cream applied for some time and some more its those THICK CREAM. What Amy did was applied, after awhile, she used the machine on me and kept going back and forth especially my 'tails', yet at the same time, she kept applying something on my brows.

SERIOUSLY, I don't know what she applied. Assuming it was the numbing cream, then hers sucks la. I can literally feel the pain like tattooing on my skin, but she didn't even ask if I was okay (obviously I was twitching my eyes and clenching my fists in all nervousness.

After a good 15 mins, I am done and she gave me a mirror to check. The moment I was done I just wanted to get out of the place :(

The brows is not what I wanted even though I thought she know I want Korean kind, thicker in front with YI ZHI MEI (straight brows) with a tail behind and I expected it to be GRAYISH BLACK.

:( At that moment, I was like kinda regretted paying that $180.

Well, this was taken straight away at Junction 8 toilet. The front of my brows look kinda uneven and its BROWN.

I did called back to the salon and enquired if the free touch up in Nov (book 4 months in advance again wtf -.-) can I request for a grayish black colour. She replied that when my appt date arrive, I should consult Amy personally and see what she can do.

I was like "okay lor."

I mean hmm maybe some girls like my brows and Amy did a good job, it turned out natural in the end, but it is not what I want! :( bu dong wo de xin.

Sorry for the lighting but it was taken after my shower and it was very dark.

The overview of both brows..

Didn't take a picture for consecutively but this was taken almost 1 week later. The tails scab is still there. Btw, why Amy didn't give any scar/healing cream one ah? *angry*

At this point, I am quite relieved that it turned out quite natural. Some people said Amy's work is too light and advised to ask for a darker one during the touch up. But it think it's perfectly fine for me.

Today is Day 10 and since all the scabs has fallen off, I decided to take this chance to blog about my experience!

Seriously, I am quite okay with the brown already... But would really prefer a colour more natural to my own hair since my hair is really black. I chopped off all my dyed hair ends so that my hair will grow out in the same colour and colouring my hair will damage my frizzy hair even further.

In terms of affordability, it is $180 with a free touch up, I guess it is still affordable to many people.

In terms of service, I heard they are nicer to first time customers. Shall see when I go back for a touch up.

In terms of after-sales service, nope nothing at all. But I have heard many people raved about after-sale service from Kelly (perfect brow house) and hers only $150 for EE la!

In terms of waiting, if you need to do it urgently like your wedding is coming, then don't go for Amy. Seriously, 4 months of waiting is no joke for some people. They booked a slot but gave up because they were too tired of waiting and waiting. REACH ON TIME STILL MUST WAIT WHA LAO.

In terms of professionalism, hmm I guess it's still not bad. The place is 2 storeys and I can see her business is quite good until the list is like filled with names.

I am still thinking whether I should go for the free touch up. Really really do not want Amy to mess up my brows or give me something I don't fancy. Seriously, she needs to give customers some freedom to say what they want to do and not just decided by her.

I have already enquired Kelly from Perfect Brow House and I shall see how again. Heard she is super nice (although a PRC) but she would text/call her client after 1 week to ask whether her brows are okay. If not, she would offer the client to come down to let her see. When I called her, she was actually doing someone else brows and she patiently answered my questions. After knowing I had many dying questions to ask her, she patiently said if she can call me later as she was doing her client's brows. I was so apologetic and yet she apologised instead of me, really hands down to her service.

Till then, shall update this space again if I have anything to share regarding my eyebrow embroidery.

xoxo.

Product Review - Innisfree Anti-Trouble Spot Essence W

Today I'm going to do a acne-care product review.

I have been searching for a good pimple gel/cream for the longest time. In the past, I had used Neutrogena pimple cream and Oxy 5 every night whenever I had pimples. It instantly cleared all the bumps and blackheads and gave me a clear skin the day after I applied.

However, perhaps due to the often usage of Benzoyl Peroxide products, my skin has started to feel irritated upon the contact of BP

So I have lived without using pimple cream for awhile and bumps on my forehead just doesn't want to clear. I was desperate that I bought benzoyl peroxide milder ones like 2.5% to try, dilute with water etc.. It just don't work. My face would turn red and itchy, feel irritation for a few days.

Then I came to know about Innisfree - a Korean skincare product from my boyfriend's mother. She passed me a sample of the clay one and the cream one. I applied the cream one during the day, the clay at night.

I know I can trust Innisfree because when it comes to skincare, Korean products does deliver result. They take skincare products very seriously.

Singapore does not sell innisfree here, so I bought mine through qoo10.com.sg from a Korean seller.

The seller was nice enough to provide few samples for me to try, though I doubt I will be trying.. *See how*

I bought it at SGD$24 which is in registered mail. I would say it is reasonably priced since it does dry up pimple fast yet does not irritate my skin!

Description:
This spot essence helps to treat and soothe bumpy, troubled skin presenting you with a smooth skin surface with its outstanding peeling effects of torreya seed oil and natural originated salicylic acid.

Directions:
After skin toner and lotion, apply a small amount onto bumpy, troubled skin area

As shown in the picture above, the product comes out as a light cream texture that is easy to spread and has a lightly medicated scent to it which I like because at least I know it has medicated ingredients inside and I feel really safe to use it.

It does what it says. Seriously, those who have sensitive acne prone skin should try this because it does a wonder for me. For instance, I had an almost riped pimple on my forehead for days, and I applied this for 2-3 days. The next day after first application, the redness around the pimple has subsided. Second application dried up the pimple and became a little smaller compared to the day before. On the third application, I woke up seeing my pimple totally dried up but I did not bother to pick at it and decided to let it drop out itself. While I was washing my face, the dried up pimple came out and now my forehead only has a slightly red mark on it. I really regretted squeezing my angry pimple below my chin because it left a dark scarring there, if I have bought this product earlier, I should not have this scar.

I will definitely repurchase this and recommend this to my friends if they were to ask me of any pimple cream that is gentle and effective.

Service Review: Salon Vim by ChezVous

It's been a long time since I blogged.

Just an update of my current state - Family has decided to sold the house and we have moved to a rental place.. We had no internet over there hence I can't possibly surf net, watch show or even blog.

1 month into my current job, still getting the hang of it :)

So I decided to do a review on Salon Vim. Decided for a haircut at 313 outlet, requested John Tham since he is so popular among the bloggers unfortunately, he will be out of SG so i chose the most available stylist scheduled on next day afternoon and settled wit Lilian. Was quite scared so I went to google about her, found some bloggers' reviews but still.. skeptical about it.

Went down at 3pm, customer service at the counter is alright, asked for my name and asked if it was my first time there. Assigned me to the seat and asked me what drinks do I want, passed me a couple of magazines to read as well.

Before I could read finish the whole magazine, it did not take long before Lilian showed up. She asked what do I want to do with my hair, so I told her..

After the haircut, she gave me a light hair wash and a good head massage. Felt amazing actually.

Later on, she blow dried my hair and gave it a little curl in which I cannot do it alone :(

This is how it looks like from the back:

Went toilet and took a front view immediately and sent to my bf.. LOL..

Spent $50 for the haircut, and another $50 for their membership. I could use the $50 inside the membership for hair services except wash and blow. I find it worth it since I can get further discount if I recc a friend or additional discount during birthday month. The down side is, the counter girl told me they have finished issuing the card so just quote my hp number will do. I am quite worried that the next visit I go, they will take back their words.

Till then, shall review again...
